Sewer Assessment Duplication
We wish to apprise you of an error in this year's assessment for residents with county sewer on their sewer bill. Unfortunately, a portion of the assessment was inadvertently duplicated. We acknowledge the inconvenience this may have caused and assure you that we are fully committed to rectifying this oversight by promptly issuing refunds for the duplicated amounts.

The City of Ashtabula is committed to providing the highest quality customer service billing for sewer and residential trash. The Finance Department staff is responsible for service billing and are available to assist customers during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The City of Ashtabula is excited to offer residents easy and convenient methods to pay their Sewer/Trash service bills. You can pay your bill at City Hall at the Finance Department entrance or our 24 hour drop off box located off of our Main Avenue entrance.

Our online service offers the ability to: sign up for paperless billing, view/print bills, and email alerts. There are various payment options (one-time payment, auto-pay, scheduled payments, text/mobile, e-check, debit/credit card) for a $2.95 convenience fee. Starting 5-8-2023, the convenience fee will increase to $3.45. To access this service, please click the link below. You can register your account with an email address for easier access and management; however, it is not required.

Sewer billing is done in arrears with bills issued every other month for a two month period. Our sewer billing schedule is as follows:

Reading Dates - Billing Dates - Due Dates
10/1 to 11/30 - Billed end of December - Due end of January
12/1 to 1/31 - Billed end of February - Due end of March
2/1 to 3/31 - Billed end of April - Due end of May
4/1 to 5/31 - Billed end of June - Due end of July
6/1 to 7/31 - Billed end of August - Due end of September
8/1 to 9/31 - Billed end of October - Due end of November

Please remember that if the bill is not paid it will be assessed to the property owner’s real estate taxes. Bills will be sent to the landlord with a duplicate provided to the tenant (or name on the Aqua water account) as a courtesy. Any questions, changes or updates, please contact us.
