


Administration
The City Council, Manager, and Solicitor work together to establish and enforce local laws and ordinances and other city administration



Health Department
The Health Department oversees and takes care of matters relating to public health within the city of Ashtabula.



Police Department
The Police Department helps maintain public order, safety, safety, and health through law enforcement. Dial 911 in an emergency or (440)992-7172 for non-emergency calls.



Water Pollution Control
The primary mission of the Ashtabula Wastewater Treatment Plant is the collection and treatment of wastewater and sludge within the standards set by the Ohio EPA. Working to maintain the health and safety of the citizens of Ashtabula and the protection of the receiving waters of Lake Erie.



Finance Department
The Finance Department is generally responsible for managing the financial activities of the City of Ashtabula, including sewer and trash billing, income tax, and city payroll.



Municipal Court
The Ashtabula Municipal Court works to uphold the laws and regulations of the court’s jurisdiction and the State of Ohio, serving the City of Ashtabula as well as Ashtabula, Plymouth, and Saybrook Townships.



Public Works Department
Public works is responsible for snow removal, traffic signs and signals, grounds maintenance, and more. The Department also handles storm and sewer line maintenance along with street sweeping, street repairs and yard waste pick-up.



Fire Department
The Fire Department is dedicated to maintaining the safety of Ashtabula and its residents, preventing and extinguishing fires as well as assisting in the case of an emergency.



Planning and Development
Within the Planning and Development Department the Engineering, Housing, Fair Housing, Grants, Code Enforcement, and Zoning Departments work together to help the Ashtabula community grow and continue to develop.



Sanitation Department
The Sanitation Department is responsible for collecting and disposing of garbage throughout the City of Ashtabula. The Department has also partnered with the Ashtabula County Solid Waste District to provide a recycling center for all county residents.
